The son of Enos Chancellor and Ilma Viola (Robertson) Hebbden of Dawn Twsp., living in of Dresden, ON. The husband of Leila Hazel (nee O’Dell) of Oil Springs, Lampton Co., ON. they married 18/10/1941 at Putnam, North Dorchester Twsp., Middlesex Co. ON. Employed as a telephone lineman in 1937 and farmed from 1937  to 1941.

Charles enlisted 30 January, 1941 at Windsor, ON.  Sgt. AG. Hebden was reported in the Wallaceburg News 23/10/41 being on a weeks leave at his parents home in Rutherford. He had plans to return to Nova Scotia.  He departed overseas 12 November, 1941.

Awarded the Air Gunners Badge and commissioned to Pilot Officer, October 13th, 1941. He departed overseas 12 November, 1941.Promoted to Flying Officer on October 1st, 1942, and was posted to No. 407th, Squadron on June 6th, 1943. Missing and presumed killed in action June 30th, 1943 during anti-submarine patrol in Bay of Biscay.

Discharged as – K.I.A.
