Born 2/02/1918 in Ridgetown, ON., the youngest son of seven children of James Alfred and Charlotte (nee Holdaway) Hebblethwaite of 214 King St. West, Chatham, ON.. David married Mildred Elizabeth (nee Stocks) CDN 8/04/40.
David enlisted in 1940, trained at Petawawa and “various places on the eastern coast” before going overseas with the Canadian Engineers in 1941, driving a truck, which he had done prior to the war. His brother Peter was also serving overseas at the time the photo appeared in the CDN 22/03/45.
A photograph appeared in the CDN about 22/03/45 showing his proud parents holding a Nazi flag that David had ‘liberated’ while serving in the army.

Grave Reference: XXII. D. 7., Cemetery – GROESBEEK CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY, Netherlands, approximately 10km. SE of the city of Nijmegen.
