Regimental number: 124329 Rank: LT. Captain RFC.  Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 4216 – 42, Item: 453814, PDF: B4216-S042. Date of Birth 24/08/1893 at Wallaceburg, ON. Son of Mr. William Henry and Anna Mary Heath of  Wallaceburg, ON. A woodworker by trade. Member of 24th Kent Regt. and three months with the 70th Bn. CEF, “Home Guard”. Attestation: 29/05/1916 at Chatham, ON to 186th OS. Bn. Reported “Fit”, Medical at Chatham, ON. 29/05/16. Age: 22 yrs., height: 5’ 11”, girth: 38”, Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Black. Considered ‘Fit’ 4/11/1915 at London, ON to the 70th OS. Batt. 

Pte. Heath trained at Camp Borden 13/09/16 and London, ON.  Elmer married Maude [nee Crawford] Heath.  They were married on July 25, 1927.  They had two sons Robert E. Heath (1928-2020) and Roger C. Heath (1929).

He left for overseas sailing 28/04/1917 arriving in England 7/05/17. Beside the 24th, 70th, 186th, Cdn. Field Artillery, with the 3rd Section Ammo Column from 8 January to April before joining the RFC.

He would be seconded to the Royal Flying Corps Air Ministry 332-24-64. A Captain seconded to RFC 29/10/17 to 18/12/17.

Captain Heath was reported “Missing” 13/03/18. The good news was he was a POW at Karlsryhe,  29/05/18, then at Blankenburg – Mark, transferred to Zerbst, transferred to Schweidnitz and finally repatriated and arrived at Ripon 26/12/18.

After his incarceration he was at Kemmel Park for a medical before shipping out of England aboard the HNT Empress of Britain sailing 17/02/19 and arriving in Canada 25/02/19.

Elmer E. Heath passed away at Wallaceburg 15/04/65.
