Private Lewis Heard transferred from the 91st to the 186th Battalion, going overseas March 1917. After training at Bramshott , he crossed to France in August 1917, transferring to the 18th Battalion. At Passchendaele November 17th,1917, he was wounded in the face and left arm, and after Hospital treatment until February 1918, took a Machine Gun course.
