Married Helen Jane Bailey, Toronto, ON. the City Solicitor in Vancouver. Went into private practice prior to entering the war.

Age 43 years. Born in Chatham, The son of the late John Gilmour and Margaret Beulah Hay. The husband of Helen Jane. 

Embarked – Montreal 13/11/15 and disembarked at Plymouth, England 22/11/15. Arrived 10/08/16 to the 47th Bn. at Bramshott. Disembarked at La Havor 11/08/16.  He had contracted a case of Scabies at the 13th Cdn. Field Amb. 23/09/16 in the Field.

Died of Wounds received in action in the Field in France or Belgium 5/03/17. “NOTE: With reference to entry appearing on the Cao List No. 520 it had now been ascertained that this Officer D of W. at Special Hospital, Warlow on 12 Nov. 1916.
