The son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hawgood of the Dresden area. His parents had been notified that their son had been ‘slightly wounded’ and the week of 3 June they were notified that he had been seriously wounded. CDN 3/06/44

Les married Alva Pearl (nee Kelly) previously married to William Bear. They had two adopted children Paul and Wendy and he had two step-children Larry & Ron Bear.

Injured in action; on discharge became a police officer with twenty seven years on Metro Toronto Police force, retired in 1979 with the rank of Detective Sergeant.

Discharged September 10th, 1945.

Les passed away in 5/03/1991.
