Born 6/11/1917 at Port Alma, Kent Co., ON., son of James Richard Haskell of Port Alma, and Alma Leah (Kiersey), of King St., Chatham, ON. Brother of Vernon also served in the army and Thelma (Larch), Floyd, Meredith Emerson, Marzella, Charles and Allen Cecille.
Meredith enlisted in Chatham Kent Regt? in 1940 in Chatham and 10/02/1941 at London, ON. The Merlin Standard of 4/09/41 and 18/09/41 reported that L/Cpl. Haskell and Miss Lena Bell Gall of Chatham spent week-end leaves at his parents home in Port Alma.
He did his basic training at No. 12 BTC, Chatham, ON., he later became and instructor at BTC No.12. He joined the Perth Regt. and went on active service at Halifax, NS., on 10/01/42 and went overseas.
The Merlin Standard 21/12/44 reported that Meredith had been ‘officially’ reported wounded while serving in Italy. He had been in action in Italy for 13 months at the time.

He was wounded while fighting on the Gothic Line in Italy.
Meredith and Lena had three children: Barry Meredith, Bonnie (Boe) and Penny Ann (Turner).
