Born 8 March, 1924.  Son of Teddie Carlyle Hart and Ellen (Abrams) Hart, brother of Gordon (who was serving in the Army), Donald, Harold and Marjorie of  the 10th Concession, Becher, Ontario, Canada. Educated at S.S. # 13 Beacher School, Wallaceburg High School, where he was a serous athlete and a star goal-tender on the hockey team and Chatham Business College. In 1941 Jack became an employee at the Wallaceburg Brass Co., it was while working at “the Brass” that he attended the Chatham Business College taking commercial courses.

In July of 1942, with the war not going well for the Allies Jack looked into joining the RCAF. In July of 1942, with the war not going well for the Allies Jack looked into joining the RCAF.  In June 1943 Jack was at RCAF Fingal and was reported at home in Duthil. WN 24/06/43.  He enlisted 18 July, 1943 in London, ON. His training would be done in London, St. Thomas, Fingal, Calgary Lachine, PQ., Moncton, NB., and finally Halifax NS.  The WN 27/01/44 reported that Pilot Officer Hart was stationed at C.A.P.O. 10 RCAF – Labrador. He would embark for overseas duty from New York 12 June, 1944 and subsequently arrive in Iceland 25 August, 1944.

F/O Hart would be assigned to 162 Squadron Bomber Reconnaissance Wing. On 3 April, 1945 in Canso aircraft No. 11066 took off on a twelve hour anti-sub patrol and a wireless report was received from the aircraft thirty minutes after takeoff and that was the last that was ever heard from the crew. Part of the crew of seven departed Reykjavik on a patrol north of the Faroes Islands. Search action was undertaken but nothing was seen. Due to good weather in the area and an absence of wreckage, enemy action was assumed to be the cause. Bodies of two crew members were later recovered from the sea on 5 May, but no final determination was made of the actual fate of the aircraft or it’s crew. Which consisted of consisted of F/O L.C. Martin, J. W. Hart, F/L’s W.C. Jackson, A.G. Thomson, W/O. W.L. Greer, F/S’s. R. G. MacNeil, J. R. McConnel,l L.S. Bently and F/O. O.C. Solmundson.
