Born in Hamilton, ON. 26/03/1906 the son of William and Georgina Hardman. He received his public school education in Hamilton and Grisby public schools. William studied medicine at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1931 with a degree in surgery. While at the U of T he met and married Dr. Anna Bella (nee Beattie). They establised a medical practice in Chatham, ON.

Dr. Hardman became the Chief of Staff at the Public General Hospital (1940 – 42). He was the vice-chairman of the Chatham Board of Education a member of the Victory Lodge A.F. and A.M. and the Kent Club. He was also the acting representative for the Department of Pensions and National Health. CDN 28/05/42.

Dr. Hardman enlisted in the RCNVR 12 June, 1942 with the rank of Surgeon-Lieutenant, he resigned from the Navy in 1943 to move to Rochester Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Hardman passed away 28/05/1952 and is buried in Guelph, ON.
