Edward joined the Army serving overseas, attacked Juno Beach on 6/06/1944 and was involved in various actions culminating with the liberation of concentration Camps in Holland.

Edwad had met a young lady before going overseas by the name of Leta Burk. Leta had also joined the Army and was stationed in Kingston. Edward returned to Canada in July of 1945 and he and Leta were married 14 August, 1945. The had three daughters Louise (Mack), Carroll (McDermid) and June Hanson of Blenheim. He was employed at the Sheppard Printing Co. and The Ridgetown College of Agricultural Thecnology.

Edward had a pason for sports named “Mr. Hockey” in 1963 and was the recipient of the “Service To Mankind Award” in 1971.

Edward passed away Saturday, 4 April, 2009 with internment in Burk Cemetery, Chatham-Kent.
