Of Thamesville. The son of Mr. (late) John and Agnes (nee Calmont) Haney of Thamesville, ON.  The brother of Agnes, Spr. Cecil and Pte. Arthur, Robert and Jack.  Cecil and Arthur served with the Royal Canadian Engineers, while Arthur served with the Essex Scottish regiment.. Orvil’s wife was Edith Elizabeth (nee Christner).

His wife’s brother, Pte. Walter Christner, Orvil’s brother-in-law, was serving in England with the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade and had the same birthdate as Spr. Haney. A joint birthday party was celebrated on their birthdate. CDN 26/05/42.

James passed away 9/02/1993 and is buried at the Sherman Cemetery, Thamesville, ON.
