Born in Thamesville 30/11/19. The brother of Spr. Orval  (RCE), Spr. Cecil. Enlistment with the Essex Scottish in September of 1939. Of Thamesville, he was 22 years old on the Dieppe raid. He was one of the first men from Thamesville to enlist in the army. CDN 16/09/42. The husband of Violet (nee Filby)  of Northwood, Kent Co. They would have four children: Janice, Patricia, John and Connie.

Married to Violet (nee Filby) of Northwood, Kent Co., ON. They have a daughter in 1941. CDN 2703/42 

Enlistment with the Essex Scottish in June of 1943. CDN23/06/43. Married to Violet (nee Filby) Hanley of Northwood, Kent Co., ON. They have a daughter in 1941. CDN 2703/42.

Reported as a casualty on the Dieppe Raid and POW in the CDN. and Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942.  It was confirmed that Arthur was in fact a POW No.39788 at Stlag 1XC. CDN 21/09/42 also confirmed CDN 23/0643.   Arthur returned to Thamesville after the war in May of 1945 after three years a POW. CDN. 23/05/45.

Arthur was reported 27/08/45 under routine order 1029 (10) 41. He receive the Battle of Britain Star, Defence Medal – UK, Volunteer Service Medal with Bar, Canadian Army War Medal, International POW Medal and the Dieppe Medal.

Arthur returned to Thamesville after the war in May of 1945 after three years a POW. CDN. 23/05/45.

Arthur passed away 31, August, !997.
