Living at 524 Nelson St., Wallaceburg, ON. The WN 1/08/40 reported that Bill had enlisted for active service. He would soon leave to Camp Borden to begin his infantry training along with two other bandsmen Max Phoenix and Bill Pierce.

The WN 13/08/42 reported that Pte. Hancock was home recovering from a hernia operation in London, ON., he was “recovering nicely”.    

William was located at the RCR Band then located in at Wolsley Barracks, London, ON. The WN 10/06/43 reported that he was on a week end leave at his Nelson St. location.
