Born 15/09/1924 in Chatham, ON. The son of Mr. J.D. and Irene Opal Hall of 29 Selkirk St., Chatham.
Trained two years with the 2nd Kent Regiment. Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Under aged enlistment.
Trained in Canada. Posted for overseas duty and crossed the Atlantic twelve times. Was promoted to Able bodied seaman.
Leonard would transfer to the RCNVR, enlisting at HMCS Hunter in Windsor, ON. He trained in Canada at HMCS Cornwallis, Halifax, HMCS Stadacona, NS. HMCS Scotian, NS. HMCS Avalon, Newefoundland, HMCS Naden, BC. and sailed on HMCS Givenchy and HMCS Runnymeade (K678) a River Class Frigate. She was launched in 1943 and commissioned 14/06/43. Used in the Atlantic until June of 1945 and then sent to Esquimalt, BC for refitting to Pacific service but the war ended before she saw any action.
Discharged December 12th, 1945.
