Private William Haggard was promoted to Lance Corporal and March 1916 transferred to the 186th Battalion being made Company Sergeant Major. He trained for his commission in London but went overseas as C.S.M. March 26th,1917. From the 4th Reserve Battalion, Bramshott, he was transferred as Instructor in Musketry and Gas with the 119th Battalion,Whitley, and later reverted to Private to cross to France where he was attached to the 52nd Battalion, and later to the Motor Machine Gun Brigade of the 2nd Canadians.
