Private Herbert Haggard crossed to England August 16th, 1915, and proceeded to France January 3rd, 1916, attached to the 21st Battalion. He was wounded seriously in the hands and hip September15th,1916, at Courcelette, was admitted to the Metropolitan Hospital London, England, and after convalescence was returned to Canada January 13th, 1917.

Private Herbert Haggard received treatment at the Convalescence Hospital , London, Ont, and was honourably discharged November 31st, 1917, being unfit for further military service owing to disabilities including two fingers useless on the right hand.
