William Fraser Hadley entered Royal Military College in 1910, graduating in 1914. He was appointed Lieutenant of the Corps of the Guides, June 25th,1914.
Lieutentant W. Fraser Hadley was declared medically unfit for overseas service in August 1914. He received his commission as Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Engineers April 8th, 1915, being employed under the Director General of Engineer Services at Militia Headquarters April 26th, 1915, to September 27th, 1915, when he was appointed adjutant of the Royal Canadian Engineers, and detailed as Assistant Director of Signalling, Militia Headquarters,Officer Commanding Signal Training Depot, C.E.F. He suffered from Typhoid Fever, April, May and June of 1916, when he ceased duty as Adjutant of the R.C.E. He relinquished the appointment as O.C. Signal Training Depot C.E.F. February, 1917. In August 1917, Captain F. Hadley had a severe attack of Appendicitis. He was promoted to temporary Captain November 27th, 1915, and gazetted Captain June 26th,1917. He was then employed as Assistant Director of Signalling, Militia Headquarters, Branch of the Chief of General Staff, and classed as medically unfit for service overseas.
Retired Medically unfit Category C 3. and placed of Reserve of Officers Feb 1st, 1919 and discharged being medically unfit for service.
