The son of Albert E. and Margaret Greenslade of 25 Scane St., Chatham. John and brother William A3259 had both attended Queen Mary Public School and the Chatham Vocational School and were members of the William St. Baptist church in Chatham.
Had served with the Kent Regiment since 1939.
John enlisted in the First Kents I July of 1940, transferring to the Highland Light Infantry. He had been in England since May of 1942 when his brother Bill visited John’s camp, meeting for the first time in three years.
Went overseas in 1941 and served in Holland and Germany with medical corps. Had enlisted with the Kent Regiment. But later transferred to another unit. Was Badly wounded.
Reported in the CDN 7/12/45(P) arriving from overseas.
