Born in Rapid City Manitoba in 1915. The only son of the late Mr. H. Green. Married, his wife June (nee Green) they were living at 171 Richmond St., later at 119 Gladstone Ave., Chatham, ON. Prior to enlisting Thomas was employed at the William Green Contractors. A member of Christ Church, Chatham. CDN 16/09/42(P).
Horace joined the Essex Scottish regt. in April of 1940 and went overseas with the regiment in August of that year. In his letter Thomas expressed a keen desire for action.

Officially reported as missing in action after the raid on Dieppe, Pte. Greens wife received a message from her husband written short hours before departing for France as follows:
“We are on board ship heading for France and action. Of course, you know that if anything happens to me it is more than likely that I will be a prisoner of war, so don’t worry. Look after our son, and remember that if anything does happen, it has all been for a good cause.”
Since the Dieppe casualty list had been published Mrs. Green had received no other word regarding her husband condition, family and friends were hopeful that he was alive and a POW.
Reported as a casualty on the Dieppe Raid in the Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942. Reported as and was reported as liberated from the German prison camp.
