Private Russel C. Gray was given duty in Canada being under age for overseas duty, and was discharged in March 1915. He re-enlisted in March, 1916, with the 186th Battalion but was discharged May 1916. He re-enlisted with the 241st Battalion, October 3rd, 1916, was transferred to the 186th Battalion, going overseas March 28th, 1917, with his unit. He was given special duty in London, England, but was taken ill and admitted to Hospital, being invalided to Canada December 1st, 1917. After convalescence at Guelph he received his discharge.
Private Russel C. Gray was honourably discharged from Guelph Convalescent Hospital in February 1, 1918, being unfit for further military service.
