From Tilbury.  The son of Mr and Mrs. Frank X. Goulet . The brother of Whitney of Tilbury, ON., Francis of St. Catharines, Clair of Windsor , George at No. 12 BTC – Chatham  Robert enlisted with the Kent Regt. in June of 1941.

The CDN 14/05/43 reported that Robert was reported overseas.    Went overseas in March of 1943. Served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders on D-Day and was later wounded three times. The CDN Aug. 44(P) reported that he had been wounded by mortar fire and had several “close calls” but was able to carry on with the fight. He commented that the Canadians lost many men on D-Day although he came through ok, he was promoted to L/Cpl. and then Corporal. 

He said in a letter to his brother Whitney that the “French people are very good and they have lots of wine to drink. The had a few eggs and that seemed to be a real treat”. Robert was sorry that he couldn’t write back to all his friends.
