James’ first enlistment was to the Kent Regiment, Chatham ON as a private. He was listed as his birthplace as Harriston. At the time of his enlistment to the Kent’s, he listed his age as 19 years.
Date of Death: 01/07/1944. While flying in a Lancaster bomber #ME774 it failed to return from a night operation against Vierzon Junction, France. Also killed where; P/O (BA) Jack Ogilivie SMITH, P/O W. F. POCOCK, F/O’S L. J. BERNASKI and A. C. BARKER; all of the crew was lost and have no known graves.
