Born in Morris, Illinois, USA, the son of Heilga [born in Norway] and Dena (nee Johnson) Eltervoog. They moved to Canada in March of 1921 and settled in Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co., ON.
Gord enlisted in the Army 21/03/1945 in Toronto, ON. 1 August, 1945 he joined the 6th Division. No record of serving overseas.
He married Roberta (nee Pratt) 19/09/48 and they had four sons Wayne, Craig, David and Paul.
