The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Girard of Windsor, the brother of Peter, Leonard and Norman. He enlisted in Chatham,ON. with the Kent Regt. 20/07/1940. Trained in London, On. before gong overseas with the Essex Scottish in 1943. Transferred to the Hamilton Light Infantry during the invasion of Italy were he was wounded in the arm and eye but was able to return to service.
He served with the Perth Regt. until the end of the war. He participated in the liberation of Rome. He was in the middle of the English Channel, coming back from a leave in London, England when the news broke that the war had ended. He missed the first shipment of troops out of Europe and was stuck there for six months.
Clarence passed away 20 July, 1987.
