Husband of Laura Belle of 18 Degge St., Chatham, ON., They had two daughters Jeanne five and Barbara three years old. He was the son of B. Gibson of Detroit. He was born in Chatham, attended Blessed Sacrament School. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Chatham Hotel and at Sarvices.

Carl enlisted with the Army in March of 1943. He trained in Windsor, Chatham and Camp Ipperwash. He was posted overseas in September of 1943 he was 26 years old.

Enlisted with the Algonquin Regiment and remained in Canada until August 1943. Went overseas and served in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. Was wounded and hospitalized.

Carl was wounded 27 August while serving with the Algonquin Regt., suffering a leg wounds. A letter received by his wife stated that he was not seriously wounded and expected to be out of hospital in two weeks. CDN 28/09/44(P).
