Private Gemmill went overseas with the A.M.C. Sept. 20, 1915 and after taking a course at Training School, proceeded to France about the middle of Jan. 1916.
At the Battle of Vimy Ridge he received burns from shell explosion and after treatment in hospital in France and England he was returned to the Hospital Ship “Araguaya” and from Oct 1917 has made continuous trips between England and Canada.
