Bessie was accepted into the RCAF(WD) at No.9 Recruitment Centre in London, ON. CDN15/07/42  Bessie had successfully completed her basic training course in Toronto and was posted to Number One wireless school in Montreal, PO. CDN 19/10/42.

Prior to her enlistment, Bessie was with the Employment Bureau.
