Corpolal Gardner trained two years with the 24th Kent Regiment, Chatham.
He left London for overseas Apr. 21, 1916, proceeding to France in June then transferring to the 58th battalion.
He served until April 12, 1917 when he was killed in action at Vimy Ridge.
