The son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fulton (deceased). He was born in Dawn Twsp., Kent Co. He attended Wallaceburg Central School and was employed at the Dominion Glass Co. in Wallaceburg before he enlisted. While working in Wallaceburg he made a home with his aunt Della Gibb at 702 Elizabeth St.

John enlisted with the 1st Kent Regt. in August 1940. Served in Halifax, Niagara and on the West Coast. He later transferred to the RCR in London and went overseas with that Regiment. He saw action in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. It was in Italy that he received a leg wound.

The WN 23/03/44 reported that Pte. Fulton was serving on ‘active duty’. The WN 31/08/44 reported that Mrs. Bessie Fry (his sister) had received information that her brother  had been wounded in the leg 7 August and was then in hospital
