He served in the Perth Regiment in Stormont, Holland, Dundas and the Glengarry Highlanders 3rd. Battalion in Holland and Germany, he also served with the Royal Canadian Engineers # 3ES&W Company at Kingston after return overseas. He served in Great Britain, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He received the Defence of Britain Medal, and the France and Germany Star.

The DN 8/01/46 reported that he was the son of Mrs. Pearl French and his brother Goldwyn French, stationed in Toronto, spent Christmas 1945 with their mother Mrs, Owen French.

Discharged May 1946.
