Born 21/09/1912 at Tiny Twsp., Simcoe (Orillia, ON.).
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton French of Lorne Ave., Chatham, ON. Attended McKeough Public School in Chatham. Prior to enlisting he was employed by the Libby Co. in Chatham. The husband of Doris (Osmon) of London, England, the father of Bruce C. Jr., Lawrence, Richard and Donna Jean (1935).
Bruce enlisted in July of 1941, Pte. A470159. Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Serving two years on the staff of No.2 BTC. At Chatham, ON. Then living at 119 St. George St., Chatham, ON.
He transferred to the Algonquin Regt and went overseas in 1943. He saw service in France after the invasion. He was wounded in actions at the Leopald Canal and injury near his eye between March 13 – 16th March, 1944 in Belgium by a German grenade and was hospitalized.
Discharged November 30th, 1945.
Bruce passed away in 1989. Doris passed away 24 Mar. 2015.
