Regimental number: 189633. DOB: – 23/07/1889 at London, England. The son of Charles Franklin a mother unlisted and unknown.RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box: 3269-15, Item:-400115, PDF:- B3269-SO15. Address: – Wallaceburg, Kent Co. Next of Kin: Mrs. Gertrude May Franklin of Wallaceburg (wife). Children: Evelyn Grace 1 month and Harry Donald 3 years. His mother and father are alive – address unknown.

He enlisted 18/12/15 at St. Thomas  Age: 26 years, 5 months, Height: 5’ 6”, Girth, 35“ Complexion: Fair, Eyes:- Blue, Hair: Brown, Weight:-130#. A scar on his right leg appeared to be a bite. Reported to be medically fit.

Married to Gertrude May of Wallaceburg, they had two children Evelyn Grace (one month old)  and Harry Donald (3 years old).  

Ernest was a glass blower in Wallaceburg. 

Reported at Camp Borden 28/09/16 Myopic wounded sent to Base Hospital 28/09/16 to 5/10/16 sent to Toronto District for fi 

He enlisted with No.1 Railway Construction in a draft in 1915 as a L/Cpl. Then with the 91st o/s Batt. CEF – transferred to 186th o/s 13/12/15 

Arived in England 23/08/17 aboard the HMT Gramplmn embarked at Halifax, Canada 10/08/17. Disembarked in England 23/08/17.He was

Franklin was gased 14/10/18 and sent to General Hospital for a month. He was reported “FIT” and no disability from the Mustard Gas 22/1/18. He was Myopic as a result for the Mustard Gas when he reached Canada.

31/03/1919 SOS of thre CEF – when he reached Canada. 

Discharged from the Army 11/04/1919. It appears that after the was and before going back to Canada he was AWL to the tune of 140 hours and it cost him a forfit of six days of pay.

Ernest Albert Alfred Franklin passed away at Westminister Hospital , London, ON. 20/04/73
