 Pte. A49850, First Kent’s. Born in Chatham the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Flynn, the brother of Pte Ted Flynn, he ad enlisted with his brother. The husband of Jeannette (nee Siddall) of Tilbury, that father of Jimmy and Clifford, the youngest son was born the day his father went overseas in March of 1943. Prior to his enlistment in August of 1940 he had been employed at the Ontario Steel Products. 

He had been an outstanding swimmer and hockey player and all round athlete. He had been a supervisor  of Chatham’s swimming pools 

The CDN 17/07/44 reported that Pte. Flynn’s wife had received  a cable from the military headquarters that here husband, who was on active service in France was dangerously ill since 11 July. An earlier message indicated he had been wounded in the head and face by bomb fragments. Roberts last letter to his wife was dated 3 July.

Robert passed away 8 June, 1994.
