Born at Mull, Harwich Twsp., Kent Co., ON. The son of Mrs. William Fluelling and the late Mr. Fluelling. Mrs. Fuelling was the postal clerk at the Blenheim, Post Office. Gordon had a sister Mrs. William McCracken. Gordon attended Blenheim Public and High School. After leaving school Gordon was a watchman on the coal freighter Alexander Leslie out of Erieau. Married to Agnes (nee Swan) they had a daughter living with Agnes at 9644 Bathurst St., Toronto, ON the daughter Lynn was aged two in 1945.

He received his commission and ‘Wings’ at Guelph. He was stationed at Jarvas, ON. and from there to the Maritimes stationed at debert and then Dartmouth, NS.

At Dartmouth Gordon was a wireless air-gunner flying with a crew on convoy escort. Flt.-Lieut Fluelling received a MiD (Mention in Dispatches for his service in the RCAF, reported in the CDN 4/12/45(P). Gordon had signed up for peacetime service in the RCAF.
