Born in Tilbury East, Kent Co., ON. in 1913, the son of Mr.  and Mrs. J. F. Fletcher of Park Street, Chatham. Fred married Marion Elsie (nee Lenton) 16/09/44 at St. Andrew’s Church in Victoria BC. (CDN 26/09/44). It is believed that Fred and Marion were living at 98 Park St., Chatham, ON when the IODE gathered information for the Books of Remembrance after the war. They had a daughter Joan.

Fred enlisted in the RCNVR in August of 1942, training at HMCS York and was assigned to CPSS Princess Elizabeth which sailed the west coast of British Columbia for eight months. He would be reassigned to convoy duty on the east coast where he served on HMCS, Camrose, St. Laurent and Dauphin on the north Atlantic rising in rank to Chief Petty Officer (ERA) for three years of sea duty.

The CDN 16/03/43 reported Petty Officer Fletcher had returned to the West Coast after a furlough with his parents on Park St.

CPO Fletcher was discharged from the Navy 12 Nov. 1945, returning to Chatham, ON.  He passed away 2 May, 1997.
