Son of David Fletcher of Fletcher, ON. A single student at Knox College, Toronto, ON. 6 months at C.O.T.C., Attestation: 14/10/1915 to 8th Overseas Universities Co.
Private Charles G. Fletcher enlisted with the 4th. University Company, October 14th, 1915, which was recruited to go as reinforcements to the P.P.C.L.I., and after training at Montreal left for overseas November 25th, 1915, continuing training at Schorncliffe. he left for France in March 1916, joining the P.P.C.L.I. at Ypres. During the engagement in Sanctuary Wood, June 2nd, 1916, he received shrapnel wound in the face; was admitted to hospital at Boulogne and rejoined his battalion June 30th. He went through the Battle of the Somme, September – October 1916, and after arriving on the Vimy front was given duties in the Town Major’s office; later employed from Liverpool with the P.P.C.L.I. March 8th, 1919, arriving at Halifax march 17th, 1919, and demobilized at Ottawa March 19th, 1919.
Private Charles G. Fletcher received his discharge March 27th, 1919, due to demobilisation.
