The son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fleming of R. R. # 1 Fletcher, Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co., ON. Prior to enlisting in the RCAF in 1943 Glen was a student in his fourth year of studies at the Chatham Collegiate Institute.
Sgt. Fleming went overseas in March of 1944 and before returning to Canada had flown 21 combat missions over enemy territory with 434 Squadron (Bluenosers). He, an air gunner and his crew had a narrow escape on one of these missions when his plane was riddle with flak. After the war in Europe he made two trips back to the continent one to pick up POW’s and the second to drop much needed food to the Dutch people.
The CDN 4/04/44 reported Sgt. Fleming then stationed at RCAF – Three Rivers, PQ. was spending a few day with his parents. The CDN 31/05/44(P) reported that Sgt. Glen O. was serving overseas and had been the air force since August 1943.

Glen was promoted to a Pilot Officer and flew a bomber back to Canada landing in Moncton, NB.
