Son of Joseph Charles and Mary Ellen Fiveash; husband of Kathleen Mary (McIntyre) Fiveash, of 378 Park St., Chatham, Ontario. The brother of Bert, serving in Italy and Charles who was training at Camp Borden when George died. George’s wifes father was serving in the RCOC in London and he brother-in-law was KIA during the invasion of France.
George enlisted in St. Thomas and received his basic training at No. 12 BTC in Chatham, ON.
Gnr. Fiveash received his training at No. 12 BTC, Chatham, Petawawa, Vancouver, BC., and Debert, NS. before going overseas in 1944. He went overseas as a replacement in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was wounded on the 29th of November and died the following day of his wounds. he CDN 12/12/44 reported that “Gunner Fiveash died as a result of wounds received in action with the Canadians in Belgium. He was wounded an November the 29th and died on Novemeber the 30th.
Date of Death: 30/11/1944, in Holland. Age 25
