Born to Jerome and Dollie Fitzpartrick in Wheatley in 1898, the family moved to Detroit, Michigan at the turn of the 20th century. When Grant came of age he joined the Royal Engineers. Little is known of his service career other than he died three days after Armistance Day cause of death is not known and is buried in England.
