Francis joined the Essex Scottish Regiment in April of 1940. He took commando training. A younger brother Bernard Alphonse Finn was serving in the RCNVR at Prince Rupert, BC during WW2. Bernard moved to Michigan and later to another State in the United States. There was another younger brother John, who did not serve in the War. John had a granddaughter Colleen Sayen, who supplied this information.
Francis was taken as a prisoner of war and reported as a casualty on the Dieppe Raid in the Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942. He escaped the German prisoner camp only to be captured again.Frank lived the rest of his life in Oakville, Ontario. He had a wife, Mary, who died young.
