Flora went overseas in December 1943 with No. 10 General Hospital Unit. She accompanied that unit to France following the D-Day invasion just before the battle for Cean, serving in Normandy, Belgium and for a time in Germany.

Returning to England in March of 1945 she married Flt. Lieut. Reese J. Richards of Montreal 17 March, at Birmingham, England. Flt. Lieut. Reese a bomber pilot,  who had been serving overseas with the RCAF. CDN 23/03/45(P)   Since her marriage NS. Richards was with No. 18 General Hospital in Buckingham, England. She was reported back in Canada in the CDN 21/06/45, after crossing from England on the Ile de France one of the 8,000 returning troops and is shown being welcomed back to Chatham in a CDN photo of 23/06/45 with her family, she had been overseas since December, 1942.
