Regimental number: 401660 Reference:  RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 2984 – 36 Date of Birth 05/07/1894 at Wallaceburg ON. Son of George and Martha Falconer of R. R. # 2 Port Lambton, ON. A single farmer living at Wallaceburg. Member of 24th Kent Regt. Attestation: 6/09/1915 at London, ON to 70th Bn.  Reported in England for military service in June, 1918.

Russell departed Halifax for England 13/03/1916 aboard the S. S. Lapland. After training in England he landed in France 8/05/1916. He was wounded in action at Ypres 15/06/1916 serving in the 58th Battalion. He was sent to No. 1 South General Hospital with a gun shot in the right arm and shrapnel wound to the forehead. He was in the General Hospital  17/06/16 and transferred to a convalescent hospital and was discharged 24/08/16

It does not appear that he returned to active service after being wounded. He was reported at Kimmal Park in December of 1918. Russell left England for Canada from Liverpool and was discharged 24 January, 1919.

Russell passed away 11 July, 1962 at Sydenham Hospital, Wallaceburg, ON. An application for a grave marker was approved by Veteran’s Affairs 19/09/1962.
