The son of Arthur Ernteman of 230 Wellington St. East, Chatham.  The brother of Elsie and Charles James, a Gunner with the RCA.

He enlisted in the RCR in July 1940, trained at Camp Borden. Anxious to get overseas, he transferred to the artillery in 1941 and spent 2 ½ years in Newfoundland in a coastal unit.

The CDN 5/02/43 reported Gnr. Ernteman reported that he had arrived the past Monday from overseas, on a 21 day furlough with his father and sister, after an overseas posting in Newfoundland.

Went overseas in July 1944. Served in France, Holland, and Belgium and Germany.

After serving two years in Newfoundland Albert spent sixteen days leave with his father and sister Elsie at their home on Wellington St., East, Chatham. CDN 4/03/44

He arrived back in Canada he transferred to the infantry, trained at Debert NS. before going overseas. His younger brother Jim was recently discharged after four years eight months overseas with the royal Canadian Artillery. CDN 14/08/44

Discharged January 17th, 1946.
