From Dover Centre, Dover Twsp., Kent Co., ON. Vern went overseas in 1942, receiving his training in England before going to North Africa. He also saw action in Sicily during “Operation Husky” and then to the campaign in Italy.
He was KIA 21/05/1944 at the age of 37 years and is buried at the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy.
