Duplessie, Edward JosephSon of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duplessie of Tilbury. Prior to his enlistment Edward was employed at the Canadian Top and Body plant in Tilbury. Edward enlisted  in the Essex Scottish in September of 1939. TT 28/09/39. He married before going overseas in 1940  Angeline Duplessie of Tilbury, ON., she was living in Detroit in 1942. Letters from Edward to his parents “express a liking for life in the service.” CDN 16/09/42.

Edward joined the Essex Scottish in Windsor and went overseas with the Scottish in 1940. Reported as a casualty on the Dieppe Raid in the Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942. In January of 1943, Edward who had previously listed as MIA after the ill fated Dieppe Raid was confirmed as a POW.

The CDN 11/06/45 reported the former POW had returned from overseas.
