Dunlop, Douglas Robert

 

Born in 1919, the son of R. G. and Sarah (Burtch) Dunlop of Chatham. The brother of Bunnie (Secord). Husband of Betty Ruth (Key) 1942. The father of Beth (Myers) and Bryan.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown) Service No. A470148.

He would transfer sometime in 1942 to the RCAF  as a AC2. R164208, RCAF. Betty Ruth (nee Key) had married Doug in 1942 and joined Doug at the several RCAF stations (Galt and Montreal) where he was serving.  Doug and Betty also lived in Mont Jolie, PQ as well as Summerside, PEI where he was serving or waiting for deployment to England.  The war ended before he went overseas.  He served as an aircraft mechanic.

After the war Doug worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Doug passed away 26/07/2001 at the age of 82 years.  Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
