Trained in Canada for twenty one months at Shilo Manitoba. Went overseas and was stationed in England.
Gerald’s daughter writes: After receiving wings in 1944 at 18 years old (Paratrooper), he went overseas to England; the war ended in Europe and he volunteered for the South Pacific and was shipped to Kingston. He trained on American weapons, transferred to the Royal Canadian Regt. and was on a draft for Vancouver. The second A-Bomb had dropped and his draft was cancelled. He was then shipped to Brockville where he volunteered as a clerk at the Quartermaster Store. He then trained men for permanent force as a Captain.
The CDN 26/06/45 reported that he was aboard a hospital ship expected to dock on or about 29 June, 1945.
