Regimental number: 844296, Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 2631 – 18, Item:36466, PDF: B2631-SO18.  Date of Birth: 16/06/1877 at Sombra Twsp., Lambton Co., ON. Son of Anne Dove of R. R. # 5 Wallaceburg, ON. John was the sole supporter for his mother. A single farmer living at his mother’s home. Attestation: 22/03/1916 at Beecher, ON. to 149th Bn.

Height: 6’, Girth: 39”, Weight: 173#, Eyes; Brown (30/20 both eyes), Hair: Black. He had a medical exam 25/03/16 at Sombra.

John transferred from the 149th to No.1 Special Service Company. 

He was reported in the Military Hospital at London, ON. for Chronic Bronchitis. He was discharged 11/04/17 

While at Camp Borden 31/08/16 to 6/09/16 he was in declining health

John was reported in the Military Hospital in London again 3/12/17 for treatment of Paraplegia. (Note: Paraplegia is a paralysis of the legs and lower body.) He was discharge 11/05/18. At some time, not noted, Mrs. Ann Dove was living at 687 Dundas St., London. At that time John was able to support of $20.00 for his mother.

Finally John had two of his toes amputated. 10/05/18 John was classified Medically Unfit due to service. – By authority PC 2849. He was 41 years 11 months when he was certified for service in Canada only 10/05/18
