The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Doolittle of 805 James St., Wallaceburg. The Wallaceburg News reported that Lewis was stationed at RCAF- Saskatoon, AB. He would be spending a few days at home. WN 21/08/41

Lewis enlisted in the RCAF enlisted early in the war. The Wallaceburg News reported that Lewis was stationed at RCAF- Saskatoon, AB. He would be spending a few days at home. WN 21/08/41 He was commissioned as a Pilot Officer, later he was promoted to Flying Officer, then to Flight-Lieutenant and Squadron-Leader 

The WN 23/03/44 reported that Sqd. Ldr. Doolittle was in ‘active’ service.

He was promoted to the rank of Wing-Commander in May of 1944 while on active service overseas. He saw considerable service in North Africa before being transferred back to England where he served in an executive capacity.
