Gerald returned to Canada to join the RCAF in September 1940. Graduating from Rivers MB., in August of 1942 as a Pilot Officer (Observer) [later called Navigator], he went overseas in 1942 as a Flt. Lieut. in 1943.
He transferred to the USAAF in August of 1943. He was reported as missing in action on 31 August, 1943 His wife was notified that he was killed in action over Munchen Gladback, Germany. Reported in the CDN 21/03/44(P).
